Seaside Sprint Bern September 2008 Wrap-up

Another Seaside 2.9 Sprint is over. We are trying to do these sprints more regularly now. This time the sprint took place in Bern. The participants were Michael Davies, Julian Fitzell, Philippe Marschal (from left to right in the picture below) and myself (taking the picture). We continued to work on what we started in Amsterdam.

Sprint

Here is a non-exhaustive and unordered list of things we have been working on during the sprint. A complete listing of actions can be found in the archive of the Seaside developer mailing-list.

  • We continued with the re-packaging of Seaside.
  • We got rid of all cyclic dependencies in the code-base, what actually took most time during the two days.
  • WARequestContext is now passed through the request handlers, instead of the request object only.
  • We setup a temporary universe server that will be useful when Seaside enters the alpha phase.
  • We fixed several bugs in the configuration editor. It has nice URLs now.
  • We cleaned up the error handling code and removed obsolete functionality.

Next we need to plan a sprint where we close more issues than we open.
